My approach to Trichotillomania

My approach to treatment for trichotillomania is evidence-based, with skills and techniques that are backed by research. These are rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) such as Habit Reversal Training (HRT), Comprehensive Behavioral treatment (ComB), Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP), and Acceptance & Committment Therapy (ACT). I know what you’re thinking…so many abbreviations, right?! But not to worry, I strive to educate my clients on the “how and why” of these therapies so you can feel confident in your treatment plan. My style as a therapist is collaborative, down-to-earth, and compassionate.

About me

As a therapist for over 20 years, I specialize in therapy for adults struggling with OCD and related disorders which includes Body Focused Repetitive Behaviors like trichotillomania. I know you’re exhausted by the emotional toll of hair pulling and the shame you’ve been carrying, probably for a very long time. BFRBs are isolating enough as it is - you do not have to navigate this alone. You need and deserve expert care from a therapist who understands the roadmap toward change! I meet with clients virtually, so that you can engage with therapy from the comfort of your own home or the convenience during your work day.

Additional Information

It feels vulnerable to reach out for therapy and taking the first step is often the hardest part. I will not keep you waiting with a response! Whether you have questions first or you are ready to schedule an appointment, you can expect to hear back from me within one business day. I accept CareFirst and Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance (PPO, EPO, and Federal Employee plans) and I schedule sessions during the week, 9am-3pm.
