Well hello! I’m Leanne Beesley — I’m British, work in tech, and would say that trichotillomania has been the absolute bane of my existence for the past 35 years.
It started when I was 6 and never went away. I tentatively told two therapists about it in my mid twenties, was devastated by their micro-expressions (they’d never heard of the condition) and dealt with it alone in secrecy and shame ever since.

I’ve created this platform as I think it’s time there was an official resource out there to help people understand trichotillomania and connect them to therapists (like you!) who can help.

Who can list?›
Licensed therapists and mental health professionals who work with trichotillomania and other body-focused repetitive behaviors, plus coaches (clearly labeled as such). Coaches are listed separately and marked as not being licensed mental health professionals.
Do I need to be a BFRB specialist?›
You don't need to have built your whole practice around BFRBs, but you should be confident supporting clients who pull their hair — most people arriving here have already tried a therapist who didn't understand it. I come at this from the patient side. I’ve lived with trichotillomania for 35 years, but I’ve never sat on the other side of the room — and there’s a limit to what lived experience on its own can tell you.
So I’m looking for qualified therapists to be part of our Board of Advisors. What I want most is people who can review what I publish: check that the information is accurate, flag anything that’s out of date or misleading, and tell me where the gaps are.
Over time I’d like the key articles to carry a reviewer’s name against them, so readers can see who has checked the page.
