My approach to Trichotillomania
Having lived experience of hair pulling, I recognise the compulsion, the difficulty in resisting the urge to pull and the feelings that arise before and afterwards. Everyone with trich (or TTM) has their own experience and this is how I will approach my work with you; with curiosity and without judgement, seeing you as an individual and what it is like for you living with trich. You & I will work collaboratively, I will hold a safe space where you can explore what brings you to therapy and the underlying reasons for your behaviours and compulsions. We can identify triggers and self-regulation around these situations; what has and what hasn't worked for you. My method is to metaphorically walk beside you, listening and supporting without judgement or placing conditions upon you.
About me
A warm welcome to you. I'm Della and I'm a Person-Centred counsellor. I practice talking therapy with adult clients both online and face-to-face in the Eastbourne and Hailsham areas of East Sussex. I work from the belief that my clients are the best experts of themselves, and when they are offered the right conditions of empathy and unconditional acceptance in a safe space, without fear of judgement, they can explore their thoughts and emotions freely and discover how they can move forward.
