My approach to Trichotillomania

I apply Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with exposure therapy based on the client's preferences and needs. This entails using what is called 'Habit Reversal Training (HRT)' to help the client identify their triggers, early warning signs and urges, and alternative behaviors to hair-pulling. Treatment also incorporates what's called 'stimulus control' to adapt the client's environment based on cues that trigger hair-pulling, 'functional analysis' which helps the client to understand the function of the behavior in more depth, and tools for adapting the client's thinking to address perfectionism, shame, and beliefs that maintain the behavior.

About me

I am passionate about working with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds. I focus on treating anxiety & OCD, trichotillomania, relationship issues, and trauma symptoms. I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), and completed my doctorate in clinical psychology (Psy.D.) at Pepperdine University. I have worked in a variety of mental health settings for the past 7 years and am dedicated to helping clients develop a more positive relationship with themselves in order to achieve their long-term goals. I provide a collaborative and tailored space for clients to safely heal and grow. My style is multi-modal and I weave together different approaches based on the client's needs and preferences. I am trained in EMDR, Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Internal Family Systems.
