My approach to Trichotillomania
In my experience with trichotillomania it is a behaviour which has come as the result of something which may be conscious or unconscious. If it’s the former then we can usually identify what is causing the behaviour if it’s the latter we need to work on understanding more about the situations, thoughts, emotions and body sensations which may result in this. There is no blueprint to follow as everyone is different although there can be some similarities for example it being a soothing sensation for anxiety. My therapy helps the patient explore the behaviour itself and the motivations for it. This can be a very sensitive topic as there can be visual awareness from others. The space is to also grow ones confidence and self esteem. Help is available and often reaching out is the hardest part.
About me
I am a BABCP accredited CBT Therapist, EMDR Practitioner and BACP accredited psychotherapist. I specialise in anxiety and trauma and have a lot of experience with neurodivergent patients. I work solely with adults online and due to having training across different mental health practices I am able to really work in an integrative way to aid behaviours and also understand why they are occurring. I offer a non judgmental space to explore challenging behaviours and emotions whilst creating a space for change and learning.
