My approach to Trichotillomania

From a CBT perspective, the recommendation is to use Habit Reversal Training within a broader CBT framework to increase awareness of triggers and urges, develop competing responses and reduce the behaviour over time. EMDR may help past experiences, reducing sensitivity to present-day triggers and strengthening impulse control.

About me

As an accredited CBT therapist and EMDR practitioner, I work integratively, tailoring treatment to each client’s needs and presenting difficulties. I support clients in understanding the relationship between past experiences, current triggers, emotions and behavioural impulses. Where appropriate, I use EMDR to process unresolved experiences that may be contributing to present-day triggers and urges. Alongside this, I use evidence-based CBT. My approach is collaborative, compassionate and focused on helping clients develop practical and sustainable ways of managing their difficulties.
